The Old Manor House, Cholesbury

When the current owner purchased this Grade II listed property in 2009 it was in a relatively poor state of repair and the brief was for a thorough refurbishment together with replacing a 1980s extension to provide additional accommodation.

The finished result combines traditional and modern techniques to conserve the historic fabric of the building with a substantial but discreet extension to enable the property to preserve and enhance its role as an established part of the village.

The new extension fuses the form and materials of the original out-building with a more contemporary expression opening up the building to the rear garden and providing the sense of space and light which is a pre-requisite of modern living.
