Ashlyns School Sports Hall

 

A brand new sports centre in the grounds of existing listed school buildings.

 

The £2.3 million building features a 736 sqm sports hall along with ancillary areas, a fitness centre, dance studio, indoor & outdoor changing facilities, toilets and equipment storage.

 

The design incorporates an innovative construction method using pre-cast concrete panels with the external face ornamented with fluting cast into the concrete, creating a robust finish internally and externally that is in keeping with the adjacent listed buildings.  The two storey ancillary block utilises the same pre-cast panels, but with an integral cast in local facing brick.

 

The project also gained a Commendation in the Hertfordshire Association of Architects Awards for Architecture 2016.
