The Old Manor House, Cholesbury

The impetus for this project was a formal partnership between the Hyde United Reformed Church and the Chinese Church in London, with whom the buildings had been shared.

The requirement was for additional meeting rooms, as well as a general upgrading of the WC accomodation sandwiched between the church and hall. The solution was to demolish the existing WC blcok and form a new top-lit "Meeting Place" in its place, and to construct a new extension at the side of the chruch to house a Community Hall as well as Kitchen and WCs serving both areas.

A particular design issue was the 1.5m change in level between the front and back of the site. The solution was to link the new and existing spaces by means of a ramped corridor, which is again largely top-lit.
